Tasmania

The last 3 weeks I was on the road across through the Tasmanian Island. The tourists normally spend only 1 week or 10 days in Tasmania. But I need to say that it is impossible to see all the things on this great island also within 3 weeks. You know, with more than 60’000 km2 Tasmania is bigger than Switzerland. Of course there are not as much villages and cities as in Switzerland and a very huge part of the island is protected by National parks and not accessible with car. So you need to walk sometimes to see the great spots. J

I arrived on the afternoon at the Airport in Hobart and went to a nearby Hotel for the night. On the second day I want to pick up my Campervan at Motor Shacks (A family owned Camper rental service). But the customers that had the vehicle before me crashed the back window and so the company need some time to fix that first. They were lovely to me and gave me a car for free to visit Hobart and do some shopping during the day. I need to stay a night in the van in their backyard until the glue from the window was dry. Rob the owner gave me some beers and also some nice chats during this time. He also gave me the hint that there is a Folk Festival in Cygnet on the next day. So I went to Cygnet after this “special” start.

The stops on my 3 weeks trip in Tasmania were:

  • Hobart
  • Cygnet
  • Snug
  • Bruny Island
  • Wayatinah
  • Queenstown
  • Strahan
  • Tullah
  • Cradle Mountain
  • Burnie
  • Arthur River
  • Rocky Cape
  • Devonport
  • Deloraine
  • Launceston
  • Scottsdale
  • Helens
  • Bay of Fires
  • Coles Bay
  • Orford
  • Port Arthur
  • Cambridge
  • And many more

We will see us in New Zealand! Cheers!
